Lindsey Graham: The US Is Heading To War With North Korea

Sen. Lindsey Graham has stated that he believes that the US will go to war with North Korea “if things don’t change,” recognizing that “many individuals would get hurt and executed.” These comments come as North Korea has been escalating weapons tests, and Russia and China have been encouraging the two sides to practice a further degree of physical limitation and dialogue.
“If we have to go to war to stop this, we will […] if there’s a war with North Korea, it will be because North Korea brought it on itself, and we’re headed to a war if things don’t change,” the South Carolina senator told Wolf Blitzer on Tuesday.
Graham reiterated that no one on Capitol Hill wants a war, but stressed that “we’re not going to let this crazy man in North Korea have the capability to hit the homeland.”
When confronted with the realities of probable civilian casualties in both North and South Korea and even possibly in Japan, Graham was quoted as saying “It’s not lost by me what a war would look like with North Korea. One, we would win it, but a lot of people would get hurt and killed.”
Graham detailed the dilemma that “the president must pick between country security and territorial steadiness,” and noted that with regards to that choice, “the president is picking America over North Korea, and I trust the DPRK population will enable us to locate a strategic arrangement.”
“He is ready, if necessary, to destroy this regime to protect America, and I hope the regime understands that if President Trump has to pick between destroying the North Korean regime and the American homeland, he’s going to destroy the regime. I hope China understands that also,” Graham stated.
Graham’s interview came just hours after DPRK launched a ballistic rocket over and into the Sea of Japan, as stated by the South Korean, Japanese, and US militaries. The Pentagon’s evaluation of the situation confirmed that it was an intercontinental ballistic rocket (ICBM). The missile was the highest-flying missile of its type to be launched by the North East Asian state. North Korean media claimed that this series of missile, capable of carrying a nuclear payload, would be able to reach anywhere in the continental United States.
