China Supports Move To Make East Jerusalem Capital Of Palestin

China has come out in support for making East Jerusalem the capital of Palestine, in a move they think will further the progress towards creating an independent Palestinian state. China’s plan wants to create a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
During a press briefing, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs made these claims, saying that the Muslim world needs to assert their right on East Jerusalem to prevent further loss of hope for Palestinians.
During the Summit for the Organization Of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, the announcement was made to name East Jerusalem the capital of Palestine. This move was made to condemn the US move to make Jerusalem the capital of Israel.
“China understands the Islamic countries’ concern about the status of Jerusalem,” spokesperson Lu Kang said, according to state media, adding that it is calling for a “resolution to the issue in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and international consensus.”
The international community of the UN considers East Jerusalem to be a part of an illegally occupied Palestinian territory, and they hope that one day Jerusalem can become the capital of both the states of Israel and Palestine.
