Trump has announced that he will waive sanctions against Iran and uphold the Iran Nuclear Deal, at least for the foreseeable future. This comes only under the conditions that Iran will continue its efforts to uphold their own end of the deal.
The President confirmed this in a speech this Friday.
A number of new sanctions affecting various entities and individuals were also issued. The 14 new sanctions were aimed at curbing perceived human rights abuses in Iran, as well as against those in power supporting or assisting the development of the country’s ballistic missile deal. This move, while directly concerning Iran, is not linked to the nuclear deal.
