According to a report published by a BBC study, the Taliban has full control over 4% of Afganistan’s territory; they are also physically present in an extra 66%.
The BBC compiled the report after interviewing over 1,200 sources throughout the country.
However, the statistics presented by the NATO Coalition claimed that the territory controlled by, or contested by, the Taliban is only 44%. The BBC counted 399 districts in Afghanistan, but the NATO-led force counted 407.
The Report Says:
“Kabul and other major cities, for example, suffered major attacks – launched from adjacent areas, or by sleeper cells – during the research period, as well as before and after,”
The Study also states that IS has a presence in 30 Districts in the South Asian country.
