A US Navy aircraft has crashed off the coast of Japan. The plane was carrying eleven crew members. Japanese and American rescue teams were instantly deployed and eight of the eleven crew members have been saved. The search mission is currently ongoing.
While the US Navy did not mention what kind of aircraft was involved in the crash, the reports from Japan suggest it was a C-2 transport aircraft. The Defence Ministry has identified engine failure as the cause of the incident.
The aircraft was ferrying crew members to the Aircraft Carrier USS Ronald Reagan.
