At least 200 people have died and many more injured after gunmen entered a mosque near al-Arish, and detonated a bomb. The attack occurred during Friday prayers.
Egyptian police say that multiple gunmen in four off-road trucks shot at the worshippers. At least 125 have been wounded.
The town of Al-arish is located in northern Sinai, a region in which militant attacks are fairly regular, but this is by far the deadliest of its kind.
President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi is reportedly soon to meet with security officials related to the matter in order to discuss the attack.
There is no official conformation of who was behind the attack, nor what the motive was.
