Bitcoin, currently the most valuable cryptocurrency in the world, has crossed another all-time high after surpassing the $9,000 mark on Sunday, a milestone that indicates that the cryptocurrency might be heading for partial mainstream adoption much sooner than expected.
The latest surge in its value is attributed to interest in Bitcoin in and around the US during the Thanksgiving and Black Friday Holiday shopping events. Coinbase, the largest bitcoin exchange in the US, added 100,000 more accounts over the weekend.
The most popular cryptocurrency in the world was trading at $9,075 as of 6:49am GMT on Sunday, and the market capitalization of Bitcoin has now surpassed $151 billion. The price of bitcoin has fluctuated nine times in 2017, leading to an increase in interest from institutional investors.
